Affinity is the 2008 9th Place International Medallist and 2008 Region 21 Champion. Their lead singer, Lori Lyford, directs the 2006 International Champion Scottsdale Chorus and is in great demand as a teacher and coach as is Affinity's bass voice, Kim Hulbert.  Kim is the director of the 2002 International Champion San Diego Chorus. She is a three-time International Champion lead singer with a Cappella Gold in 2001, Savvy in 1988, High Society in 1976. Tenor Monique Manifold is front row coordinator and tenor section leader of the San Diego Chorus. Baritone Jana Gutenson proudly serves as assistant director and baritone section leader of the Scottsdale Chorus. Affinity became a quartet in January 2007, born of friendships formed while singing together in Club 21, the association of Region 21 Quartet Champions.  You might just spot them on the road between their homes in Phoenix, Yuma and San Diego, but you can contact them for performance information at www.affinitysings.com.

The Mix A good quartet needs a good mixture of ingredients - talent, experience, vocal blend and a touch of showmanship - and that's what you have with The Mix. All have extensive quartet experience and are longtime members of Sweet Adelines International and the international championship Scottsdale Chorus. They have a combined 84 years of singing four-part barbershop harmony, but don't let all of those years fool you. They bring a youthful attitude and sound to a performance that thrills audiences and leaves them wanting more.  Marsha Shaw, the lead, is the veteran of the group who started singing as a teenager. Cathie Sturm, the tenor, is Marsha and Bill's daughter who began singing at home with the encouragement of Mom and Dad. That led to a career as a music teacher as well as operatic singing and a budding interest in music arranging. Linda Myer, a tenor who switched to the baritone part to sing with her friends in The Mix, also has tried her hand as an arranger and music writer and is known for writing clever parodies. The bass, Robin McElfresh, also switched parts at one point after singing lead for a number of years in quartets and choruses. Given the opportunity to hear The Mix, you're sure to find that they offer the perfect blend of talent, harmony and pizzazz that will leave you wanting more.
