Expect an astounding sound as notes combine into chords that thrill in a wide variety of musical styles. Add in the visual delights of stunning costumes and innovative choreography and you’ll know why this chorus has been entertaining in Arizona for over 50 years.
Chorus members rehearse weekly to perfect the music and dance that frequently has audiences jumping out of their seats.

The chorus’s exuberant director, Lori Lyford, is a life-time music educator who successfully encouraged a passionate love of music in hundreds of choral students during her career.
A Master Director 700, she is also one of the most sought-after coaches in the barbershop genre, conducting training seminars and coaching sessions throughout the United States and abroad.

The Scottsdale Chorus chartered in 1962, and our first Regional Competition was in the spring of 1966.
The chorus has competed in over 20 International contests since 1974, never achieving less than third place.
Our competitive spirit and commitment to musical excellence have led us to the coveted First Place International Championship six times: 1984, 1989, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2019.

Each of us shares a bond through the love of music, performance and competition, and we seek to change lives through our musical performances.
Our goal is to draw others to share our love of harmony and our joy of singing, bringing a positive and uplifting message to our audiences by the songs we choose to sing. We consider the cultural and social context of songs and will not sing songs where the original meaning and intent is inappropriate.

We are a group of women singers who are excited to welcome new members, including people of traditionally underrepresented genders, to join us!
All ages from teens to eighties and a wide variety of backgrounds and lifestyles are represented among our membership.
Although Scottsdale is our chorus home, our members are from all over the state of Arizona and farther.

The Scottsdale Chorus is affiliated with the Sweet Adelines International organization, which is dedicated to promoting a cappella, four-part harmony, barbershop-style music through education, competition and performance.
We support the Sweet Adelines Young Women in Harmony program offering young singers under the age of 26 opportunities to explore the world of barbershop music through education, festivals and more.
